Seasonal Storage of Antique Equipment
After restoring your antique tractor or farm equipment no one wants to see their time and money wasted by improper seasonal storage. Getting your antique tractor ready for seasonal storage requires attention to detail. The best place to store equipment is covered and inside a building. This may not be an option for some owners. In this case be sure to cover it with as much protection from the elements as possible.
Lubrication of moving parts to keep them from drawing moisture is advisable as well as a good fuel stabilizer designed for the type of fuel your tractor operates on. When possible starting your antique tractor and allowing it to run for a time to circulate oil to keep the inside of the engine lubricated. Checking your fluids prior to starting is advisable to avoid damaging yor engine.
Keep tires fully inflated and move your antique tractor to avoid flat sopts that could cause damage to the tire.
Check periodically for rodent infestation, like you and I, rodents look for a warm place to live when the weather is cold, often causing damage to wiring, and inhabiting any internal areas of the engine they can access. Covering any obvious sources of entry is advisable.
It is also a good idea to cover your exhaust and disconnect the battery.
