Larry Lanker.jpg1949 International Harvester Farmall Cub Larry Lanker of Xenia, Ohio inherited his grandfathers 1949 Farmall Cub. Perry Lanker, Larry’s grandfather, purchased the Cub in April of 1949 from Smith Sales & Service, Lawrenceville, Illinois. Larry said, this tractor is not only special to him because both his grandfather and father, Lawrence Lanker have owned it but he was with his grandfather when he took delivery in 1949. It has been owned by the lanker family since. After Perry purchased the tractor Larry said, I would work my 'tail end off' just to get to drive the tractor. Larry used his trailer to bring the Cub from Illinois to Ohio, a distance of 270 miles. This tractor is still all original and has never been restored, just well cared for by the Lanker family. Perry used the Cub for truck farming, plowing gardens, and moving snow in the winter. One of Larry’s favorite stories about his grandfather Perry Lanker and the Cub is the day he was using the blade to level some dirt in a yard when he accidentally backed the tractor off a culvert into the ditch, causing the front of the tractor to flip up, some men pulled the front end back down and helped shove Perry out of the ditch, and he never got off the seat through the whole ordeal. Larry also has a 1953 Ford Jubilee; he is not a grand scale collector but just enough to satisfy the urge. Larry is a member of the Old Timers Club Clifton, Ohio; where he held the office of Director in 2000 - 2004. His son Larry D Lanker, Jr is also a member and enjoys attending shows. They regularly attend the Old Timer's Days show at Xenia, Ohio Larry will continue to show the Cub and just enjoy owning it.
