Little is Known about the History Of Schafer Plow Inc.
The Schafer Plow Inc. was located in Pratt, Kansas. During their short time manufacturing tractors they produced and sold a total of eight model 20000 (P154 HX4) tractors. Little is know about this company according to Dan. The company is no longer in business, selling to Western Tractor Company after a few years of operations. Harold’s tractor bears serial number 4-64-0001, indicating it was the very first Schafer 20000 produced.
This well cared for tractor is a rare find for any collector of rare and orphan tractors. The 20000, has a factory built Schafer chassis, Allis Chalmers 11000 Diesel engine, Cotta, drop box, and Fuller, Road Ranger, transmission, Rockwell Axels and brakes (planetary). Harold, who was a mechanic by trade, rebuilt the transmission and drop box in 1983. A complete list of all parts and repairs was always kept on the tractor. Ever since it was new the tractor was stored in an insulated building. The 20000 was still in “like new” condition when Harold passed way. Today it is just as he left it, said Dan.
It will be interesting to see what this tractor will bring. Watch for updated information after the sale.
