County Fairs

I went to the fair last Saturday, and I am always impressed with the County fair. The Clay County Fair is known to be the largest county fair in Iowa, and it lives up to its name. It has way more farm equipment than the Iowa State Fair. Don't get me wrong, I go to the State Fair every year as well. I usually go to 2 or 3 county fairs every year, and enjoy everything. The latest in Farm equipment, the Varied Industry Building where you will find almost anything. I even like to watch the demonstration of the vegetable slicers, and the knifes that will last you a life time. All for only $19.95! I also heard that there were 37 kinds of food on a stick. I must admit I had a deep fat fried Snickers on a stick, and a Nutty Bar. Both very good, maybe not healthy, but good. I also had Mini Donuts, and Cheese Curds. I did share with my wife, Roxanne.
Getting back to more important things. There was a very good display of antique tractors and machinery. I am seeing more interest in Plows, Wagons, Manure Spreaders, and older Combines. I think that is great, less old iron going to the salvage yards. Keeping the past is important to all of us.
