First Load Sensitive Hydraulics On a Farm Tractor 1973 As Norm Swinford states in his book, Allis Chalmers Farm Equipment 1914-1985, "The completely new load sensitive hydraulic system was an important feature of the Allis Chalmers 7030 and 7050. The heart of the system was a variable displacement axial piston pump controlled by a pressure compensator, which regulated both pressure and flow to match the load, thereby increasing efficiency." This was particularly valuable when running hydraulic motors, such as those for chemical application pumps. It wasn't until 1978 that other major tractor manufacturers began to adopt load sensitive systems.
