Restoring a 1959 John Deere 630

630 steamcleaned.jpg
My son Bryce and I left on a Saturday morning in October, 2010, at 2 am from Lenoir City, Tennessee. We drove our 2007 GMC Duramax and pulled a 14K goose-neck our friend Chad graciously loaned to us. The trip to Kalona, Iowa, was 1500 miles round-trip, and we returned on Sunday at 2:30 am. We Praise God for a safe trip! The 630 was even nicer than I had hoped it would be. It runs nicely and has no leaks (after we took EXCESS oil out of the crankcase and power steering). It had been repainted, but needs to be completely "taken down" to really "show her stuff".

Antique Tractors, Preserve Them For The Future

Jerry Brammers restored 1937 MM YT
As we take time to reminisce with friends and family. Some may recollect their childhood, often a time of fewer comforts and harder work. It is funny how what seemed to be such a trying time, now seems like such a peaceful and rewarding time. We often long to return to those days even if only in some small way. Lately I see more and more people letting go of what came before, and I fear and wonder how long will it be before no one cares enough preserve cherished family histories.

These do-it- all tractors feature improved transmissions, economy PTO mode, which JD claims will save 19 to 30% on fuel. The 5 Series tractors will be built in Augusta, GA. replacing the 5000 Series tractors. Changes are a one piece tilt hood, and right hand side step for easy entry from either side of the open platform models.

Deere Celebrates 50 Years of 4WD

John Deere is celebrating 50 years of manufacturing and marketing 4WD Tractors during 2009. To commemorate this milestone, each 9030 Series Wheel Tractor Produced during model year 2009 will have a special decal displayed on the tractor. The 4WD story started in 1959 when John Deere introduced its first articulated farm tractor, the 8010, at a John Deere field day near Marshalltown, Iowa. Farmers were invited to examine the tractor and view a demonstration of this new tractor along with other new equipment which would be offered for the next crop year.
