Antique Tractors, Big Draw at Auctions
Antique tractors and Equipment is a Valuable Commodity...and growing.
Antique tractors and combines are currently in high demand at auctions. An un-restored 1961 International Harvester Farmall 460 brought $2,800 at a September 11 retirement sale in Texas. Earlier in the year another 460 of the same year sold for $1,400. Also at the Texas sale a 1975 John Deere 4240 was sold for $12,600, nearly $1,000 over the average auction price for this model. Once again confirming that good used equipment is a valuable commodity.
Antique Tractors are a good investment
Many of the auctions held during the past six weeks offered up a large number of antique tractors. One Consignment auction in Colorado sold over one hundred antique tractors. The selling prices of these tractors ranged from $200 to $6,000, with an overall average selling price around $1,500.
Some of these tractors may be on their way to become useful working farm tractors but for most, I expect they will be given a higher position. They will most likely be restored to become part of a private collection or restored and sold for profit.
Profitability in a restored antique tractor can be very positive for the speculator. When you note the range of selling prices at this sale alone. Condition, condition, condition that’s where the money lies, put your skills to work and make some money.
