2009 Harvest challenge, or maybe we should start 2009 Planting challenge. A challenge Farmers will remember not necessarily because of the yields or the profits, but because of the inopportune weather. Its been the wettest, latest harvest in 30 years, and that's why this year's weather is the top story of 2009.

Farmers in many areas got their crops in the ground late because of spring rains, throwing off the year's time table. A cool and dry summer slowed crop development even further. October was a very rainy month, keeping farmers from combining their crops. Many didn't finish until after Thanksgiving, and some combined until Christmas. Then the snow came. Some still have corn in the field as the calendar turns from 2009 to 2010, and here we are January 4th and 22 below zero. I am positive things will get better.

HAPPY NEW YEAR !!!!
